Case Description
Hi Dr. Oogle, I have been going to a dentist for the past 14 months for crowns on my 8 front teeth on the top. I had no idea what I was in for before he started the work. My dentist did not tell me before he started my dental work that my bite was bad and there could be a problem. I was not informed of anything that could happen before.he started the work. I had 2 visits with him in June and the work was not started until November of 2006.At my first appointment he did all 8 teeth and put the temps on. They were so thick and out so far I could not even talk right. When I told him about it he said , "" I have been in this business for the past 20 years and have never had it happen before. It's all in your head. I tried for weeks to over come the speech problem and could not. After that he put in several new sets of temps but with the same bite. I have asked him to put me back to where my teeth were originally and start there to see what we could do. He refused to do that and has keep the same bite pattern all this time. The temps I have in now have been in for 8 months. I have gotten 2 other opinions to see if we could solve the problem, Both dentists said that my dentist should put me back to my original and go from there. He got mad and told me never to do that again or he would not finish the job and I could hit the road, as he put it. If I even mention how I want my teeth to look or feel, so I can pronounce my words right, he gets angry and starts yelling at me and tells me if I don't like how it does it I can leave. I feel like I have no rights or say in anything. He does not even try to help me so I can get my teeth finished. I have go through so much pain and terrible treatment, I don't know what to do. If I report him, I can't get my teeth done, because no other dentist will do the work for less than 3 times the amount i have already paid my dentist. I don't have that kind of money. How long can these temp. stay in? I'm afraid that my gums are not as healthy now. When I wake up in the morning I have a little bleeding. I brush well everyday. What can I do? Please help.

Are You This Patient?
When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

Dear patient,It sounds like you have been through alot with your teeth. I''''m sorry to hear that. You have been wearing the temporary crowns for way too long. If you do not finish treatment, I am afraid the result could be permanent damage to your gums and teeth. If you have completely lost rapport with your first dentist, I would suggest that you follow through with the recommendations of one of the two other dentists you have seen immediately. They will most likely be able to offer you financing for monthly payments on your treatment. If you would like to have yet another opinion on your treatment, I would be happy to see you to discuss your needs. Consultations are always free.Yours truly,Dr. Mark EdingtonModern Dental Care(702) 372-4039
