Case Description
Dental care was never emphasised in my family. Now that I have a daughter (turns 6 on the 17th) I do not want to raise her believing such things. However due to the economy insurance is one thing we can not afford. Husband makes too much for government health insurance, but not enough for us to be able to afford our own. So ...rock and a hard place is where we find ourselves. Anyways, as my daughter and I walked home from the park today she did this jump move that caused her to fall and thus myself like we were dominos. I rose with a mouthful of asphalt, mouthful of blood and a peice of my front tooth missing. Now my "unique" smile has always been such, unique and not in a good way. My father had a union job and great insurance, but lack the drive to use the insurance, so at a very young age it was apparent that I needed braces, but never recieved them making me a now 31 year old woman with vampire smile. My front right tooth (was, slightly still is after today's fall) is semi in front of my left front tooth. When I was younger (13-14) I was taken to the dentist and asked how long I had been doing drugs. At this point in my life I had never a sip of alcohol, smoked a cigarette and god no I had never touched any type of drugs. The last time I went to a dentist it was to have a top back tooth removed and the dentist laughed at me and then spent the rest of the time scolding me. What I need is someone who can tell me ballpark figures on how much things would coct if I walked in with cash. Braces are no longer something I imagine I will get unless the insurance fairy shows up tomorrow (doubtful lol), but I would like to first get the chip on my front tooth repaired and then work with someone who will not laugh at me or berate me the whole time. Is there anyone who can help?

Are You This Patient?
When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

First of all, good for you for choosing to make dental health care a priority for you and especially for your little girl. It''''s too bad that you have had such horrible experiences with your dentists in the past, but great that you are not letting that keep you from getting closer to the smile you want and teaching a worthwhile lesson to your daughter. I am sympathetic to your insurance dilemma and will happily work with you to create an affordable treatment plan and a payment schedule that you feel comfortable with. My most immediate concern would be to check you both out and see what kind of damage the fall caused. I will be happy to waive my examination fee for both of you. From there, we can discuss different treatment options. Call my office tomorrow (we open at 8:00) and let them know I authorized a free exam and consult via Dr. Oogle. I look forward to meeting you and helping you make that smile one you can be proud of.Sincerely,Dr. Joshua Ignatowicz

If your tooth has changed position since the fall it sounds like a subluxation. In these cases you have a window of about 24-36 hours to push the tooth back into the original position. a root canal is likely in these cases and if the tooth is not repositioned orthodontics becomes necessary. I can see you tomorrow and will not charge you to take a look. Whether you come to my office or elsewhere you need to be seen tomorrow. I''''m not sure but I think sometimes medical insurance will reimurse you for dental expenses as the result of an accident. Good luck to you,Dr. Greg Moritz
